To glean; “to gather grain or other agricultural products left by reapers” . Our Gleaner coat was inspired by vintage chore coats worn in both Europe and America in the late 19th century. They were made oversized and rugged to withstand repetitive wear and washing. This unlined coat is made from 100% organically grown cotton and hemp and sewn in our studio in Santa Rosa California. It features 4 outer pockets ( 2 hip, 1 coin, 1 chest with a bonus pen slot) and one internal chest pocket. Machine wash and dry, this fabric holds up. A nod to farmers, gleaners, builders, stichers and all the other makers and laborers who use their hands and backs to create the products we use every day.

These jackets are made to order. For taller people, a longer sleeve length may be desired. Please choose the long version of your coordinating size. Long version has 2” additional sleeve length.

These coats are buttoned right over left which although outdated, is a traditional way to button a woman’s coat. If you would like the button order to be left over right, please send a request along with your order.
